Andrew Bhagyam, D.D.S., M.D. was born and raised in Wisconsin and attended Luther College, where he graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 2011. He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, graduating in 2016 with distinction in the top 15% of his class. During dental school, he was recognized with the prestigious American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Student Award.
Following dental school, Dr. Bhagyam completed a General Practice Residency (general dentistry) at Hennepin County Medical Center. He was then accepted into the highly competitive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. His extensive six-year training included earning a medical degree from McGovern Medical School in 2021, a two year Certificate in General Surgery, and receiving a Certificate of Advanced Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2023. During this time, he had the privilege of training alongside nationally recognized surgeons and leaders in the field (including both Dr. Taylor and Dr. Seaman).
After completing his residency, Dr. Bhagyam became board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has since gained experience in multiple private practice settings and is now proud to be part of Lighthouse Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where he continues to pursue his passion for orthognathic surgery alongside Dr. Terry Taylor and Dr. Justin Seaman.
Dr. Bhagyam’s clinical interests include orthognathic (jaw) surgery, dental implants, full-arch (AOX/AO4) implant rehabilitation, extractions, bone grafting and reconstruction, wisdom teeth removal, IV sedation, facial trauma, pathology, and TMJ disorders.
Outside of the office, Dr. Bhagyam enjoys spending time with his friends and his fiancée, Elyse. He is an avid fisherman and traveler—especially when he can combine the two— last in New Zealand, Alaska, and Costa Rica. He enjoys working on cars, often taking on projects himself as well as spending time at the gym. At home, he is kept entertained by his two Bengal cats, who are always eager to greet him at the end of the day and command much of his attention.
